Cashew Nuts [India/Vietnam]

Govt. of India has laid down the Standard Specifications for Indian Cashew Kernels for export to have perfect quality control and Inspection. Depending upon the Characteristics and shape Cashew Kernels are graded into white Scorched wholes, Pieces, Splits, Butts etc.

There are few Grades of Cashew which are commercially available and exported.

W - 180, these are larger in Size and expensive too.
W - 210, these are normally known as "JUMBO" Nuts.
W - 240, this is a middle grade size, quite economic and a regular quality preferred in international market.
W - 320, this is very easily available in market. The demand in international market is as good as W-240.
W - 450, this is small and cheap in price.

Scorched wholes are slight brown in colour and they have Good nutritional value too. Butts, splits and pieces are priced lower and are ideal for cooking, preparation of sweets and savoury snacks.

General Specifications for Cashew Kernels are:-

Colour: White / Pale Ivory / Light ash
Moisture: 5 % Max.
Broken: 5 % Max.
NLSG: 5 % Max. (Net Lower Side Grade)
